How To Repair Your Registry

If you have computer problems right after installing new hardware this new item is very likely causing the problems. To correct this uninstall the hardware driver or software then restart the computer. Now reinstall the item. Follow the correct procedure to uninstall the application. Go to your Control Panel and select the Add Remove Programs option to do this the right way. This will avoid leaving yet more corrupt entries in your registry. If your computer does not boot in the normally restart it in Safe Mode which is done by tapping the F8 key several times during the boot up.

Most registry errors are caused by considerable numbers of obsolete and invalid entries in the registry. This extra load overloads and chokes the registry causing a noticeable slow down in operation of the computer, and often freezing occurs also, due to system errors, and the occasional crash can take place.

To edit these errors out from the registry, the best thing to do is to download a registry repair tool from the Internet. A top registry repair program will run a complete scan of the registry and make a list of the errors found. You can then look at this list and choose to have the application remove these errors if you wish and to return the registry to good operating order once more.

Windows ME and Windows XP operating systems have a System Restore feature. The operating system makes regular logs of your system, including the registry, and this can be used to restore your system to where it was at a prior date when it was working properly.

To find System Restore, go to Start->All Programs->Accessories->System Tools->System Restore. In System Restore, choose ‘Restore my computer to an earlier time’ and then click Next. A calendar displays and you choose a restore date and go back to that date in your system settings. Your folders, files and email are not affected by the restore process. System Restore changes only your system settings and does not change data.

The registry is an important part of your operating system. It must be maintained in good condition. This ensures top PC performance. Avoid doing anything that might damage the registry. Follow correct install and uninstall methods and do not install programs from sites that could be sources of malware or viruses.

A registry repair tool should be run at regular intervals to maintain the registry in good condition. We tested many popular registry repair tools and found that while they would all clean the registry, some of them were definitely considerably better than others.

We found one program which found up to 50% more registry errors than some of the others did. This was REGEASY and we have installed this registry cleaner in our own computers. We recommend REGEASY (Registry Easy) for registry repair. It found up to 50% more errors than some other programs and did a fine job of removing them. You can obtain a free scan to correct registry errors now from REGEASY.
