If your computer will not boot in the normal way you can restart it in Safe Mode by tapping the F8 key several times during boot up.

A calendar will be displayed and you can choose a restore date and go back to that point with your system settings. Folders,files and email will not be affected by the restore process. System restore only changes your system settings and does not affect data.
